Department of CHEMISTRY

The Department of Chemistry was started during the year 1972. Since its inception, the department is tirelessly working for the development of students by incorporating social awareness programme along with academic programmes. The Department strives to inculcate educational values in students to become better citizens of India.
Since the confirmation of autonomy, the department is developing curriculum and syllabi to fulfill the requirements of the students and the recent trends in Chemistry. The syllabi are updated once in three years and new papers or fields such as nanotechnology, Green Chemistry are introduced. This helps students in preparing for higher studies or employment in industries. M.Sc. Chemistry Course under Choice Based Credit System was introduced in the academic year 2012-2013.
 

Facilities

The department is having a total of fourteen highly qualified and experienced teaching staff and four non teaching staff. The Department has four laboratories equipped with the requirements needed for academic activities. This imparts individual working knowledge and practice in students.
The Department Library has one thousand and two hundred books. Chemistry association provides opportunity for students to participate in seminars, lectures, quiz, debates etc. This motivates and updates the knowledge of the students. The Department also encourages faculty to attend seminars, conferences and workshops. All the students are involved in NCC, NSS and other social activities conducted by the college.
